The white pine (Pinus strobus) is a large evergreen tree. Its pine cone and tassel is also the state flower of Maine, though it is technically a gymnosperm, not a flower.
State Symbol[]
Its status as state tree was adopted by the Legislature of 1945.[1] It appears on the State Flag.
