Fort Fairfield is a town in Aroostook County, Maine. It is named for John Fairfield, the 13th and 16th governor of Maine.

History[]

Fort Fairfield was originally a military outpost built to prevent transport of lumber into Canada during the "Bloodless Aroostook War" of 1839.
