The Maine Coon cat is the state cat of Maine.

Description Edit

The Maine Coon is a breed of domestic house cat (Felis catus). It is said to be a cross between local short-haired domestic cats and long-haired breeds brought overseas by Vikings.

State Symbol Edit

Its status as the state cat was adopted by the Legislature of 1985.[1]
